The new RS Norfolk website is on its way!

The changeover should be seamless, and obvious, but in the unlikely event that it's not running in the next few days, keep checking back.

Cheers Cheesy

Nice new site there chris, you have obviously been putting in the hours, like steve said nice banner at the top but how about having pictures of all the RS cars possibly from first to latest. Just an idea depending on the limits of site space.

Other than that, spot on.

That was an idea that crossed my mind - and mixing in a few of the group's RS's as well - you've probably spotted Nash, Steve and Daz's already appear Wink

If anyone would like theirs in the banner at the top, find a nice piccy of the front and one of the back, and I'll cook up something even sweeter... Wink

Good job chap, i assume it will evolve in time. But initial impresions are good. May i suggest a meet the group section, where we can all have a little story about ourselves and our cars and a few pics. similar to the members cars section of the old site.

Something along the lines of......
Hi im Churchy and im gay, and i drive an unreliable sapphire with gay wheels etc

Dont worry Churchy, i love you really x x x

After looking into various ideas for a members' gallery, it seems there's a very easy option.

The site's laid out in sections, which have categories, which have news items.  So what I'll do, is make a section for a gallery, and create a category for each member that wants a gallery.  Then each member can create their own pages in their category, so they can have (basically) a blog of what they're doing with their RS, or pictures they've taken at a show. Smiley

When you log in to the site (and I know that some of you have registered Wink ), you should have a 'Submit News' button on the left - click that, and you'll be confronted with a page that looks a little like Word.  Feel free to have a go and play in there, there's nothing you can break!  You'll also see a 'Submit Weblink' button  - if you find a link that should be in the Links section of the site (there are loads I'm in the process of adding), use that button to add it to the list.

I don't think it's a dealer photo or anything like that - maybe a passing enthusiast.  I think it's abroad as two of the Saffs are left hookers, and the lorry's number plate is foreign.  Nice shot all the same!  Found it on the RSOC forum.

I've had a play: the 'gallery' is going to be more of a blog, for those that want a gallery.  It can be as simple or as comprehensive as you want - each member can have their own piece of the website.  I'm guessing that those of you who've replied would like a gallery, so I've set you up so you can do that with the Submit News button.  If anyone else would like a gallery, let me know and I'll sort you out!

When you submit your item, make sure you pick your own category!! I can fix it if you get it wrong, so no biggy.  You'll have TWO Word like windows.  The top one is like a brief description to the news item, and the lower one is for the main body.  You can insert pictures, using the 'Insert image' button on the toolbars, and paste the URL link from photobucket (or similar if you don't use photobucket).

Point at the 'Group Info' button on the website's main menu, and spot the difference Wink

Give me a yell if it doesn't work Smiley

I'm having problems Chris!!! lol

I've just done my little page/blog twice now, and it still doesn't work. First time, after i'd finished i clicked save and it logged me out and said i wasn't authorised to do that... second time i clicked apply and it did the same, therefore each time i'm loosing eveything i've done......... So i won't do it a third time just for now!!! lol

Did you tick the box to remember your login? Smiley

Word has a Save button - this doesn't work quite the same - there's an 'Apply' button that will save your progress without closing the window.

Also, I've changed the 'idle timeout' from five minutes to one hour.

No worries - I've been caught out loads of times doing the same.  You get into a flow, and then it all goes tits up!

Your other option is to do it in Word (or whatever your poison is), but without pictures for the time being, save it, then copy and paste it into the editor.

Yep, thats what i've done.... the spec list was already saved (hence all the fancy fonts lol) so i've just copied and pasted it over, so that saved a bit of time!

... its just the pics that have taken a while and a few other bits.... anyway, all done now.... says it needs to be reviewed before being submitted!
