The title's misleading, as there are no testicles in this thread.

However, this thread is here BOLLOCKS because BOLLOCKS my BOLLOCKS  head gasket has BOLLOCKS gone, in the YB's ol favourite place by cylinder 3 and 4.  Thankfully it seems it's only the water jacket thats ruptured outwards, as the oil's clean, or at least, the mouthful of oil that's in it is clean.  Roll Eyes

It'll be back, and I've hired myself a stetson and a hobby horse, so I can ride into the adventure that is a YB head gasket change.

Watch this space...

Don't worry it's a doddle to do, i find the hardest bit is getting to the bottom row of nuts that hold the manifold and inlet on!.

Easily done in a Day mate if sorted someone to skim it for you.

I allways take head off with Manifolds attached and then re attach them before i put it back on, so much easier off the car. Just requires 2 people to do that job thats all.

Like I said mate, whilst its off, rebuilding the head and relapping the valves back in wouldn't be a bad idea, its piss easy to do, and relatively cheap too! And as said, a light skim on the head wouldn't go amiss, get it off and i'll do it for ya Wink

Gavin has a headgasket kit that he may sell for a reasonable price Smiley.

Gavin supplied my turbo for me, so why not you a gasket kit lol! Wink

As I was goin to text ya, its just easier on here lol. When do ya plan on doing it? And have you got a copy of the official ford cosworth workshop manual that I bandied about? I'll get you a copy if not, tis the bible!!!

All you really need tool wise is a socket and spanner set, allen key set (all metric), a tiny screw driver, a valve lapper, and a valve clamp. The collets are the  are worst bit, I used a watchmakers, flat head screw driver, with a blob of oil on the end of it, help you hold the collet in place! And use the valve lapper to remove the tappets from on top of the valves.

I'm sure people can add their views or correct me on anything Smiley

I have both the PDF and an ORIGINAL PAPER copy of The Bible. Wink  And loads of other neat little Ford documents...

Can't even think about doing it until I come back from holiday, really (why do these things happen at the most awkward times?), but the list of tools is helpful.  Grin  Hopefully I can get it all sorted in time for Ford Fair, that or there's a spare stand pass for somebody, and we'll be cadging a lift.  Again.

I'm glad I found it when I did, and not half way along the A14 at full chat with the temp gauge bouncing off the red sqaure!

Going to make a start on taking things off (and taking pictures) this weekend before I go away.  Still got those greens? Wink

Absolutely the best reason to improve something is because it's broken - I can hear Stage 3 calling to me now... - do I remember Matt saying that he had a valve spring compressor, or has my memory let me down again? Smiley

Right, had the cam cover off yesterday.  Hoped to try and take the head off too - Bible in hand Wink - but I need a star socket or something.

The cam cover gasket was a bit shit - it split and broke in three places, the half moon seals were made of foam, unlike the gasket.  Do I need new cam cover bolts when i refit the head?  Will be ordering new head bolts and stuff shortly.

I'm back off holiday on the day of the July meet, not leaving a lot of time to get this all done  by Ford Fair. Sad

I got a valve spring compressor, bit it won't remove them in situ, ie, the head will need to be off. Also got 1/2" Drive Star (Torx) bits fixed in a socket which you're welcome to borrow too.

Was gonna say I too have the torx socket for the head bolts, but got beaten to it. And you don't have to replace the rocker cover cap head bolts, they can go straight back in!! Smiley
