It's been suggested that we should have someone to meet and greet new members so they have someone to introduce them to the group, and so that they don't feel left out, as I did the first time I went to a meet on my own; the next meet was quite different as I was introduced to everybody's favourite member  and I felt right at home Wink

I put two people forward for this as I think we'd do it quite well as a duo: me, and Churchy.  Afro

Sounds like a good idea mate and yes, you two would do a good job me thinks!!  Afro

I still remember your first meet Chris.... well i think it was your first....... me, darryl, churchy and a couple of others were standing outside McD's looking at this crystal blue saph parked in the car park, saying to ourselves "who's is that!!???".....  then went in and saw a new face tucking into a large burger (nothing changes  Wink).... and the rest, as they say...... is history!!!

I like that as an idea, i certainly wouldn't have known who to speak to without having first emailed Chris. I know I've only been to two meets (Bloody old job!!), but I've noticed that most of the group that don't appear on this forum can be rather "frosty". Ok that's putting it nicely - when me and my missus were sitting in Mac D waiting for you boys to turn up they downright ignored us actually. Despite sitting there in a Ford Racing T-shirt with a Fiesta RS fleece on!!

Churchy and Chris, I'll second that! Ambasadors to the noobs. But Churchy - you have to do it dressed up as Tony Harrison ("s*** offf, you are gonna be WASTED!!"), and Chris - wearing the afro of correctness  Afro  Grin

LOL, that was so quick it was sorta like you meant it as a description and a reason for him being the "ex"

- "ex secretary because he sold his soul and bought a scooby. We don't welcome his kind any more!"

I think it should be up to everyone to make new people welcome tbh. Mike made me feel welcome the first meet i came to and everyone else was easy to talk to aswell.

I agree it should be down to everyone to meet and greet, i do try to have a good chat to everyone on my rounds but as you know we only get so much time to do it.
If somebody wishes to volunteer for the job then thats marvelous (you ain't gettin paid thou), i think it would help the noob's feel like coming back for a second visit at least.

This thread has also given me an idea for the next newsletter, i may mention it in the article if i get space Smiley

Last meet was my first, and tbh the only person that spoke to me was Dave Relph. I am coming to the next meet and hope to chat to more of you, but it would be nice to have ameet and greeter just to introduce you to others and give you a bit of a low down on the group. Just my opinion.   :- Wink

Warning: Old thread resurrection!

Thought I'd bring this one back to the top, as I don't remember reading half the replies!!!

Matt's spot on - it should really be up to EVERYBODY to make new members feel welcome and to want to come back for more! Smiley
