According to my calculations you loaded it with 55.33 litres of fuel...so you still had some mileage left Wink

Fook me!! Thats EXACTLY the amount i put in, even down to the .33!!!!! You must be REALLY bored lol

I always put v-power in my cars, think nothing of it now...... the only car that got ordinary unleaded was the rover...

My understanding is that if you have your car mapped for a certain octane of fuel (98ish in this case), the timing can be advanced on the cams and a significant amount of power can be gained. HOWEVER, if you find yourself in a sleepy village in France somewhere, and all they have is fermented manure type fuel (Read TESCO 95 octane  Tongue), you may as well put water in your highly tuned Cossie, cause it wont be happy.

Jap sport cars are tuned to 101 octance cause their fuel is the dogs nuts, and the imports have to be re mapped to fit our crap stuff.

(Do i get the hat of correctness??  Cool )

Pretty much Wink  But on a Cossie it's more for the ignition timing when on boost.  Cool

I'll lend it to you Wink

And whatever your engine, avoid LRP like the plague!  Be told

But you don't need it lol, its just a waste of money!!! It's not an RS, get over it  Tongue

If you think 95-98 ron is bad, head over to the good ole US of A, where they are treated to 81-85 ron!!!

i am gonna try and make this months one if the zetec is in  Grin

Was the old CVH just not up to scratch then?

Nothing wrong with the old engine, just Zetec easier to get power from + they actually like to rev.

Two cams and 16 valves help with that! What kind of power is he looking for on the new engine then (I assume it'll be on TB's again?)? 120bhp out of a 1.6 was pretty good for N/A'd engine, but i dread to think what the petrol consumption was. Mine's pretty damn s*** at about 23mpg ish with injection but a CVH on throttle bods - WOA!

That said if any of us gave a crap about petrol consumption, we'd be driving Toyota Prius's  icon_puke_r

Yes its going on the Carbs again. Totally standard 1800 Zetec, Can only rev to about 7.2k max on that before the rods start giving up. No point in fitting ARP's on standard engine either as its the rods that go before the bolts. Cams might be on the cards before the years out not sure thats up to Mini.

Not sure on power either tbh, just hope it gives him a bit more poke for the PF trackday at Snetty. God knows on MPG, as it only gets driven flat out as its a toy.

Is there going to be any mini-convoys on the way up there?  My route's changed as we're meeting nearer Dereham.

No worries mate - we've found a new permanent home at The Lodge, now.  At least you didn't find the overturned artic at the Norwich roundabout in Thetford - you'd have had to turn around anyway! lol

Cool...I'm 'updating' the website again - any chance you could send one or two my way - especially if you've got one of the pub itself Smiley
