Churchy that looks very good mate, nice one Gary and Co. The torque spread is superb and with that amount of boost the turbo should last forever.

Whats the cost of this conversion? PM me if needs be.

Very interesting and seeing as i dont have an ecu yet this could be a serious option depending on costs involved.

Its hard for me to put an exact cost on it, as I also had a new turbo, intercooler etc... and with that, labour on top for fitting! christian said he can now calculate a good price after doing mine, so I'm sure he'll pm you.

It's such a shame all this, one of these situations where if you haven't anything nice to say, just say nothing!! Christian and Gary are only defending something they supply and believe in, whats wrong with that??

Anyway, i know the subject is over, but as i've only just seen all this theres just one thing i wanted to make a comment on Chris, then i'll leave it be.....

This thread will be veiwed by many, as I am sure you know, do you think I lose sleep over people like you, don't hold your breath here, I don't go round arse licking like some on here

As said, this is a PUBLIC forum... thats why i wanted to make the point that it's not 'arse licking' but RESPECT for people with a wealth of knowledge on the subject Wink

Not everyone has a full mechanical knowledge of engines etc, everyones knows you could write what i know on a postage stamp lol......... thats why i trust Christian and Gary 110% with my car  occasion14

Just wanted to say that anyway, now back to the subject of Churchy's car.........

Woa, WWIII....
Lets turn the forum back into an information sharing resourse like it's supposed to be huh!?
Anyways..... Can someone talk technical to me (I like it when people talk technical.... Tongue Kiss) LOL

Joking aside - Whats special about this new setup Gary/Churchy? Is the ECU more programmable than the standard Cossie set up (am i right in saying "L8"?)?
Just interested as I'm quite into ECU's as I hope to get megasquirt one day to amusme myself with, so can you give me the low down compared to that so I'll understand  Cheesy as I'm not so up on Cossie's and their workings/management

Thanks!

Lovely Pics Steve, I'd ask for the same treatment but my bodywork is more in the direction of Chris's and neading a magician!! (Sorry Chris!)

Put simply, Churchy's gone for something more advanced in the ECU department - to draw a comparison, take an IBM XT (or seens as an L8 has a Motorola CPU, an Apple II), then stick it next to a present day iMac......

As Chris said, just much more modern, live mappable @ APT, so don't have to travel across the country, more accurate I think, allows a wideband lambda, closed loop boost as well as fuelling, and loads of other stuff I'm sure lol, will just have to ask them at the next meet. I do know that the cold running and idleing is also mapped instead of guessed Smiley

Cool, i got ya. Tis what i thought then - a modern day ECU with all the modern features. Why bother piggy-back 'chipping manky old ECU's when you can just get a new box which (as chris put it) is more like a super computer in comparison!

Something I never understood about the chip thing, at least with the ECC IV ECU - you buy a chip for the RS or XR Fiesta for ?300 odd which (as you say churchy, just "guesses" the mapping/fueling really), where you can go and buy a fully mappable ECU like Megasquirt (or what you've now got from APT) etc. for the same or not a great deal more, and get much more personalized, customisable set up. I always thought chips were naff really for the money. Addmittedly ive got one but then i was lucky and picked it up 2nd hand for ?30!! LOL

Mine was 2nd hand too - but as with most 2nd hand stuff, you can't guarantee it does what it says on the tin Wink

Off the shelf chips always were (and are) a little hit'n'miss/pick'n'mix and are generally 'conservative' in their power map, if any care was taken when they were written anyway, so they're not tailored to the user's requirements.

Glad you've got it back and are happy with it mate, looks good in the pics too. Would like a ride in it too at some point, see what difference it's made! Good job to APT as well, nice to see them moving into areas they haven't covered before, top work  Cool

Churchy, never mind Christians sister, we haven't seen yours for a while!!!  Embarrassed Tongue Grin

Graphs say it all really, top result there!  Just a shame its in a shonky old taxi.  Tongue

When funds allow me to do some turbo work and have the car properly mapped then this is a route I would definately seriously consider.  Smiley
