The front plate does let it down a bit, shame as it's obviously well looked after, and a very clean car.
I reckon steve must be  giving bufty lessons.

Thanks for the kind words, especially Gary, I know how hard that was lol Wink  It does need a new front plate, but generally it doesn't wear it Wink

I'm not the right man for the all the techie stuff about the work that's been carried out, but I'll tell you what I know.

It has a new brain, that is the APT ECU, a newly reconditioned T34.63 turbo, black 63lb injectors, brand new, custom made engine loom, new fuel tank, new group A fuel pump, new fuel tank, and all rewired front to back!

Airtec "rs500" style intercooler with a 70mm core...........

Electronic boost controller to enable closed loop boost.......

Wideband lambda control................

And a coilpack conversion.................

The car drives superb, as I'm sure Daz and Steve will testify, and revs its nuts off all the way to the limiter (with the help of a balanced bottom end). Its totally different to how a cossie drives, in the fact the the gearbox breaking boost spike has been removed, and the max power and torque being made further up the rev range, as you will see in the next set of graphs. Notice where the power flattens out towards the end, a set of cams will sort that out, but thats for another time!

Right, on these graphs, the green line is before, and the red line is after.

Power............

Torque (about 350ft/lb)

And finally, boost. Notice that it now runs a a very easy 1.6 bar, as opposed to the 2 bar it used to Smiley .....................

As was explained to me, the engine could produce 380bhp if desired, but would put alot more stress on the turbo and engine, which wasn't why I had this work done. Fingers crossed, it should be reliable for the foreseeable, and take my abuse!! Smiley

It did take a little longer than expected, but this is the first time APT have carried out work of this kind to a cosworth, which is quite a big job, and as I said, I'd rather the work was done without being rushed, and it was worth the wait.

So a BIG BIG thankyou to Gary and Christian @ APT for their fine work, which I would recommend to anyone with an RS!!! Can't wait for the engine monitor!!!  notworthy occasion14

The car really is something else now, definatly has the title of "fastest car i've been in" LOL!!!

It's a hard thing to describe, its just so effortlessly fast.... i can totally see where the Scooby and Evo comparions can possibly come from as it's not like any Cosworth i've been in before. Sure, the kick in the aRSe isn't there so much now, but its smooth as fook.......... LOVE IT!!!

nice pics but that really needs that ugly number plate renewing with a new one!! occasion14

Cheers Gary, considering we didn't spend long taking the pics, i'm REALLY pleased how they all came out... especially the last one, proper Fast Ford styleeee!! Grin

As for the plate, to be fair, Churchy did mention it a couple of times so it's not un-noticed Wink

steve can join the back of the queue for a ride in your car gary i didnt get a chance to go in it before you hiked up the power.

tabs it dont matter whos ecu it is as long as it works and delivers everything it should do then fine. apt wouldnt put their name on anything they weren`t supposed or thought was dodgey.

hopefully this conversion will take off as alot of hard work has gone into it, and it shows in the end result.

 occasion14 to the apt lads!!!

This conversion is std stuff that has been around for years.
The "APT" ecu is a LOTUS ecu, made by EFI in ITALY, and has been for years, SIMON HILL, has rewritten some software for it, reboxed it from a METAL CASED ecu with a big LOTUS embossing on it to a plastic box/case.
I was looking at the same ecu, but a LOTUS packaged one, with all the bollocks I have hear about them lately it is unbeleivable, they are faster/better than anything else  apparently, what crap, they use the SAME PROCESSOR as for instance the EMERALD, but EFI don't have as many features as Emerald, as bits are added to Emerald for this.
The REASON why they are EFI ecu's, I'll let DAZ COS, tell you WHO OWNS LOTUS ?
I was looking at Churchy's car when it was being worked on for the cold running, and it wasn't at APT.
I just think it takes the piss to claim it is so and so 's ecu when it isn't, doesn't matter who's just not the person making the claim.
As I have said to churchy,(no doubt he saved a copy of the pm to give to you), it is a GOOD ECU, nothing wrong with it, does what it says on the tin, if I did not NEED the extra features that i do need I would have looked at this one amongst others.
Even a LOTUS car bears the name of a DAUGHTER of the owner of EFI, so can't be more connected to ELISE, as they own LOTUS!!
Incidentally they are also suppied to SCHOLAR/DAMICO just in case APT run out, don't know if these badge as thier own, up to them I suppose, don't know if EFI are aware of rebadging either ?
I was just addressing the issue of ACCURACY in exactly who's ecu it was.
I have had two EFI ecu's myself on LPG cars, both excellent, brilliant products.
At least churchy made the sensible move away from weber ecu's, but don't you do msd stuff on webers ecu's ?
Specialist Components, SIMON HILL, supply you, have they ever done retail then ?
WHO SUPPLIES SC/SIMON HILL ?

Tabetha you f***ing moron. Do Sainsburys make Sainburys toilet roll? No, they have another company (most probably someone like Andrex) make it. So then, does the company that make toilet roll for Sainsburys want all the calls from people complaining about the Sainsburys toilet roll? No they don't.

The case of our ECU is similar. Simon Hill doesn't want to deal with retail. FACT. So, why the hell you had to go snooping around and then spill out all the details of what you had seen on a public forum god only knows. Simon told you when you were over there being the nosey prat that you are that we are the agent for his ECU's in this area

BIG mistake IMO.

We have never bad-mouthed Emerald and Dave Walker, as we are interested in different sectors of the market, but absolutely categorically 100% as a result of this outburst by you, I will be looking for every way that I can discredit everything that comes out of there. I hope Dave pats you on the back for that.

Churchy knew that the car was going to Simon Hill for the Cold-start to be sorted, we made no secret of the fact that this is a new product for us and Simon wanted to write the base map, no big conspiracy there. Who do you think mapped the full power and driveability parts of the map? So why you have to make it sound like we have deliberately pulled the wool over anyone's eyes I do not know. We have also worked with Simon regarding developments on the ECU and assisted Simon in his own projects too.

You do make me laugh with your rebadging. How can I ever have a serious conversation with anyone that said that the Bugatti Veyron is just a rebadged Skoda? So what if we want to brand this ECU as ours? Rebranding happens everywhere, it's not a crime.

Glad you're pleased with the car Churchy. Was nice to learn that Cossie tuning doesn't have to be full of comprimises and poor day-to-day running.

At the end of the day, the face for the ECU is APT. If anything goes wrong, that is where it goes back to, and is taken care of from there. When head gaskets started blowing on new cossies back in the 80's, did you take the car to Reinz to have them replace it, or over to the Cosworth factory who built the engines? No, you take it back to ford who sold the car, as a package, who sold the car as their own. If the gearbox breaks on a new Escort cossie, do you go runing off to Ferguson? No, you take it to Ford. This is no different. As said, it happens everywhere all the time, and I don't see what all the fuss is about.  Roll Eyes

At the end of the day this is a superb, reliable drivers package as sold by APT, if your interested, call them. If you want a go in mine to see how it feels, just ask. Like I said, I would personally recommend this conversion to anyone, cause there's always a chance you'll get to meet Christians sister  occasion14  Kiss

As I said christian the ECU is a very good one, I was not over there being nosey, you can't even see the place from the road, someone told me they do corner weighting.
I know all about rebranding, it is done all the time, and as I have always said about this ECU, it is a very good one, I have never denied that.
I got NONE of this info from Dave or Emerald , it is available on the web, and lotus owners are aware of it, I noted the similarity when removing a lotus ecu.
I have not even mentioned the rumours about these ecu's but will if you want to continue this conversation ?
I can assure you I have no interest in your business policies and have even stated publicly on forums about the few cars that I have been in that have been mapped by you, being done VERY WELL, they ran like a dream as they should.
These are used by more than yourself, do you really think that people are that naive to think that no one does thier homework!!
This thread will be veiwed by many, as I am sure you know, do you think I lose sleep over people like you, don't hold your breath here, I don't go round arse licking like some on here, but am man enough to appologise if I have done something wrong, as I have in the past.
As "you make no secret" with refference to the ecu WHY THIS POST ?
SC don't sell to the public anyway, so what difference does it make, I don't give a toss what you call it, but it is interesting to note churchy had to use your annalogy.
All tuners get slated and praised by people all the time, you are NOT IMMUNE SO GET REAL.
I say as I see, I thought EA did a good job until I found out otherwise, and said so in print straight away so as to BALANCE things out.
I don't see the need to use langauge like you, no wonder ther RSOC is so popular, you even had TWO of them at the last RR day, such support is overwhelming.
As I said I am happy to continue this, are you/gary ?

I can't see what point you are trying to make, I really can't. It looks to me as if your on a wind up mission, trying to provoke a reaction out of people Tabs. Is it because its raining outside?

I'm going to have this thread locked, and your posts deleted, because this topic was started by Steve for people to see how far my car has come along, and about the recent work its had done, and about how happy I am with it, not a handbag fight.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the line at which the bickering stops

I'll not have fallouts, squabbling and name calling.

I think we're all agreed that Churchy's ditched the L8 (can I have it?) for something a litte cleverer.  I also think we're agreed that APT sourced and fitted said ECU and it works great.  Further, we've also discovered where they come from, and that APT will sell you one and fit it if you want one.  That really is the end of it as far as I'm concerned, and it appears that tabetha has somehow deleted his own account and is now a 'guest'.

My solution?  Group hug, all the pain goes away.
