Hi all.

I have been planning my mk6 escort project for last few years and had decided on a 2.0 zetec turbo conversion however whilst at my local garage today they mentioned they had just the engine for me, its a 2.2 petrol imported from the usa with a 6 speed box. its not an engine i am familer with but fitted with a turbo could be fun, anyone know of such a engine? or am I best sticking with the zetec option.

on another note I have a sierra 2000e but the mpg display next to the clock needs a new display, anyone breaking a cossie at the mo?

cheers.

Only Ford engine that springs to mind is the 2.3 Duratec, not familiar with a 2.2, unless it's one of the TDCis!

Cossies didn't have the mileage computer - the engine management was too dumb to feed it the right information - all we're graced with is a digital or analogue cloc.  Crying  There was actually a trip computer display module on ebay for £50 the other day, might still be there.

I've never head of a factory 2.2 engine.

There's the Duratec 2.3 from the states, or the 2.3 Scorpio/Galaxy engine. That can be modified into a 2.2, as I know a couple of people doing it.

Or there was the 2.3 V4, but the less said about that the better!

Does sound a bit strange, I am due to pick another one of my cars up from the garage later this week so ill find out more about it then.

Did not know the cossie did not have the mpg display. I have to say the 2000e is a great spec just needs more power! cant bring myself to touch it tho, its spotless everything is original except the wheels which are cossie wheels but hopefully pick some original wheels soon. only 2 owners to.

If you're sporting the DOHC engine, the best thing for a bit more juice is to stick a K&N 57i on it, and/or an Ashley exhaust.

For more power, the best thing to do is have a chat with Marty on the Sierra Owners Club forum - he's literally a twincam expert. thumbsup
