Thanks for the Heads Up, but the "Report to Moderator" button would've been more helpful lol

Would you believe that approximately 20 new spam accounts are created each day...?

The ban filters sadly aren't especially flexible, so I have to draw a fine line between banning the entire internet and allowing the genuine ones to go through.

Either way, I get an email EVERY time there's a new registration and keeping up can be a bit of a mission.

You two may appreciate this: I found a handy website that will give you ALL the subnets for a given country, see www.countryipblocks.net.  Choose a country, click GO and you'll have every subnet you'll ever need to ban.

Problem is, China (the main offender, along with Poland, Latvia, and Russia) has over 3000 subnets.  Here's the summary of what that website has to offer for China:

# Country: CHINA
# ISO Code: CN
# Total Networks: 3,412
# Total Subnets:  331,822,336

I'm not entering over 3000 IP ranges into the ban list, so if anyone would like access to the Ban and Delete Post button and can spare a few minutes a day to just have a look, that'd be great.  thumbsup

Yes, that site gives you the ENTIRE list of subnets.  The forum software however isn't as flexible as that, as in, I can't block subnets that aren't a multiple of 8, ie, I can do /32 /24 /16 or /8, but can't do /19 /26 /15 etc.

Can you edit the registration Screen? The quickest way to fix this would be to put a hidden field on the reg screen. If the hidden field is entered into, it's a bot, because no human can see or use the field.

But that all depends on whether you can edit the PHP

To be honest the bots post more on the forum than our own members do, so I might just let them run riot. :s
