...I've bought a new car!

Well, as I said before, the MK6 Escort had been bought as a summer hack about and I had always said I would very possibly change it, and that time has come!

Sadly I think it will be getting broken up and sold in bits to recoup the maximum amount of money, but some parts will go on to help get the MK5 running, so all is not lost.

Anyway, I knew I wanted something newer, and with the amount of motorway miles I was doing, it absolutely had to be an oil burner. I wanted a MK3 Mondeo, but was struggling to find something, but when this came up, I just couldn't say no. It seems to have been an absolute steal at the price I paid.

Only one picture for now...

I know I know  Anyway, it's a 1.9 CDTI SXI, 04 registered. Ex-fleet car so quite high mileage, but seems to drive ok (though utterly hopeless off boost). It's quiet, comfortable and massive inside.

With the price I paid, I'm sorely tempted to tidy it up a bit and sell it on to get a Mondeo TDCI, but I'll see how I get on, it's only a daily driver after all. Newest car I've owned by a long long way!

Will add more pictures tomorrow perhaps. Body work needs some attention in areas, but it's all easily dealt with.

I'm sure I'll get plenty of stick, and I probably deserve it, but oh well  Roll Eyes

Awesome machines - but beware - the boot release buttons have a 10% chance of working!

I must say, I'm quite impressed so far to be honest. The Mondeo is a bit nicer looking I think (in Zetec-S/ST form anyway) but this does look quite smart, it's very comfortable, fairly pokey for what it is too. The best thing though, is undoubtedly the refinement. It makes a TDCI Mondeo feel like a lorry it really does. At cruising speed it is so so quiet, you can barely hear a whisper from the engine.

A Mondeo would most likely be a slightly better drive, but this is such a refined car over distance, and they don't seem to have anywhere near as many issues as the TDCI engine does.

It's recently had new disks and pads all round, new turbo, new intercooler, new alternator so hopefully it will be a reliable enough steed. It is very tempting to sell it on for a quick profit, but I'll see. Set of SRI rear lights and some better wheels and I think it would be a smart looking car. And a remap would see some good gains too!

Not bad Jon

Welcome to my side of the world.............

Not a bad car, just becareful of the egr valves on these engines, 120 8v are pretty strong tho, even if they are a fiat unit...........
