Im going to be the only one with silver wheels before long!!!! They do look damn good though Steve, all it needs now is lowering a smidge, i say about 25mm just enough for the wheels to fill the arches but not so much as to make them scrub the arches. The modding bug has bitten, theres no turning back now.

Cheers all!!  Cool

... and yep, you're right Matt! i now have a mini list of things to do to the car, just to get it nice! I've already got a set of BLACK Roose Motorsport boost hoses ready to be put on, and i've been talking to Mike today when me and Daz went round his about suspension...... I want to keep it at the standard height to be honest, but the wheels are rubbing on full lock, and having someone in the back is a no-no at the moment  Roll Eyes

.... looks like i'll be going for Koni shocks and Kahn springs all round which hopefully Mike can supply, and i mentioned poly bushes but after having a chat, i'm gonna leave that for now!!  Cool

......... BLIMEY, LISTEN TO ME!!!!!! I'M TALKING ABOUT MODDING MY CAR!!!  Shocked

I would deffo go for poly bushes, even after having them put on mine (which is not as old as your RST) the differance was unbelivable, it makes it feel like new. You can feel ever little crack and lump in the road, but not in a bad way. I mean its not going to rattle your teeth out like coilovers would but it gives it that stiff responsive feel.

By looking at the pics im surpised it rubs at the back! Perhaps if you dont want to lower it just some stiffer springs would help. The Orion was lowered 40mm with about 100kgs of stereo in the boot and it only rubbed on BIG bumps in the road and occasionally when 4 up. They were 205/40/17 tyres btw. I Know it sounds harsh but have you considered having the arches trimmed or rolled?

the reason it rubs on the back is because the standard shocks ve a dust cover on them and the wheels rub on that.

cheers for the map matt was very helpful didnt realise itas that easy to find his house Afro

It rubs on the back with just one person sitting in the back, and thats over every little pot hole and bump in the road!!! It's gotta be down to the fact that the suspension is getting soft and springy after 18 years and 95k!! lol. The plastic cover on the rear shocks probably doesn't help either as to compensate for this, it's now got wheels spacers on the rear wheels, to give some clearance, but that of course pushes the wheels nearer the arches and on it goes!!!  Roll Eyes

Yeah, have thought about that mate, BUT i'm hoping with the new shocks that will go on, i'll no longer need the wheel spacers on and that will in turn move the wheels away from the arch if you know what i mean!  Cool

Just thought about that! Surely with the Escort suspension being how it is (independant rear) the more you lower it the more the wheels angle in at the top (camber) meaning the closer you get to the shocks.
This means you will still need them spacers, but the wheels will then be further from the arch again.
