Following the catastrophic, though highly amusing and spectacular failure of my rear brakes, I've forked out for a pair of new, unused Sierra 4x4/Escort Cosworth rear calipers:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180527736041

Discs and pads are being provided courtesy of Monsieur Rainbird.

These, as we all know, provide better stopping power at the back, which is awfully important.  Especially in a 22 year old turbocharged Sierra which is often called to stop in a hurry!  If nothing else, they'll stop it rolling backwards down the hill at home.  Shocked

I'll see if I can get a picture of the ruined pads - they'll make a great ornament on the mantlepiece. Wink

I've also decided that I'm destined never to have new suspension, because these new rear brakes have stolen most of what I'd planned to spend on a set of Konis and springs.  Arse.  Roll Eyes

I think new suspension will be higher up the list, no use having shit hot brakes if the car is wallowing and squirming when you throw the anchor out! lol

So true...if the brakes and fuel tank hadn't died at more-or-less the same time, it'd be wearing a set of Konis by now!
