downsizing? I've never been to one but isn't "track action" supposed to be a big part of it?

I'd heard a whisper that this years National Day was going to be a static show with no track action............. and thats now confirmed i see. Stanford Hall is a bit of a run, but no worse than Donnington imo. I've passed the turn off for it going somewhere in the past Smiley

It's at the end of the A14 - which means it's closer than Donington, Silverstone, and Santa Pod, Steve... Wink

They're putting on 3 extra track shows to make up for it, which I'll be trying to attend.  Who knows, by then I might have some proper suspension to go on track with. Wink

From my understanding; Stanford was booked as a back up in case they couldn't sort a track venue. Donington is still knackered so that ruled that out and they couldn't sort anywhere else, so they've gone with Stanford for this year.

I've been to shows there in the past and it's a really really nice venue, lovely place for a show.

Also, instead of following the A14 right to the end, if you take an earlier junction you get a drive down some lovely roads on the way in, so that's worth considering  Grin

I've already seen members of the northern contingent moaning about having to travel 'down south' for this, so I don't think they'd go for Snet  Grin

Not sure when Leicester actually became 'down south' though?  Head v Brick Wall

I think we'll do the usual drill unless there's any objections:

It's approximately 2 hours from Thetford (traffic queues notwithstanding), and I know there are some early-birds that will want to get there before the sun has risen, so if I suggest that we aim to arrive at Stanford Hall for 0830, will anyone object?

That would mean, approximately:

0600: A11/A47 Thickthorn Services
0630: A11 Thetford Sainsburys
0700: A14 Newmarket Services
0830: Stanford Hall

Only one rule: Apart from the scheduled stops, no pee breaks!  Go before you leave, or take a bottle! lol

Here's the route (starting from the Sainsbury's roundabout in Thetford, assuming you're coming from that direction).  If you forget to print the map and don't have Sat-nav, all you really need to remember is leave the A14 at Junction 1 and turn right: Clicky

This route should avoid the traffic merging from both directions of the M1, M6, and any that continues to the end of the A14.  Hopefully I'm not proved to be a nugget!

If I had my way, we'd leave Thetford at 9 and take a leisurely blast down the A14. lol

After eating breakfast in the car, Jo usually sleeps until the queues start. lol
