PLEASE HELP! Fitting catalytic converter to GTI

Please help!!
I'm having a head ache fitting my new catalytic converter tonight, because some swine nicked my old exhaust i have not had the experience of removing the old one thus having the knowledge of knowing how its fitted. I have brought a new fixing kit from ford which includes the round gasket to fit to the manifold, the two shafts about 9cm long including pins that attach to the manifold and a thread and bolt at the other end with a smooth middle. I have also got two large springs.
I am struggling to understand where the springs go, does the catalytic converter up pipe connect directly to the manifold then the springs followed by the nut? if i do this the spring will just fall of the shaft and the bolt is a 13mm and again the spring just slides over the nut.
Can some please point me in the right direction?
Cheers

This is typical ford not suplying all the parts. You have it in the right order but you need some strong washers to fit in between the springs and the nuts. any old washers will do as long as they are strong enough

Cheers
I was sure i was right and in the end i decided to use some washers but the gasket supplied is a very tight fit (to tight as cant get it flush) so will be popping back to Ford this week and pick up new fixing kit.
Gutting really as wanted to book MOT this week!
