Thanks mate - that steel is invincibly strong - did you order me the forged steel laced with Kryptonite?? Blunted two 10mm Drill bits on it (and yes i did pilot holes, and I used oil, and i went slowly!). Took em back and got refunds on the grounds they weren't fit for purpose - Honestly i think the steel is too tough for what the likes of Homebase and Wickes sell. I tried the cheap and the "premium" bits. Like butter on that steel

Attached the Gear shifter Mount with 100x10mm bolts but had to just use 6x100mm bolts for the Steering wheel mount for fear of blunting more bits. Should have done them the other way round as the Wheel gets the most abuse!! Might have to take the Wheel mount to your gaff to mill the holes or something. The 6's are holding it solid for now, but i don't trust em not going banana shaped in the long term.

Oh and I'm sure we could make more, but Fiesta RS Recaro's are in short and Expensive supply so it'd have to be a standard scrap yard special! For the record, the Recaro is removable so it can be re-instated into any future REAL car projects!

Gave my Recaro the full soap and water treatment today. Looks like new now and it's bordering 20 years old! Has anyone ever tried removing the Recaro's "skin"? I've gotten some of the edge clips off then gotten cold feet. I imagine they're a lot easier to clean that way, and my other seat does need a new bolster so it'll have to be done one day....

That is awesome mate!  Afro  How do you get on with the G25?  I've never used a proper ffb wheel and pedal setup but have been looking into this recently.  When I've got a couple of projects on my house out of the way I'm gonna treat myself to a G27, in time for GT5!  Cool  I did think about making a frame myself (I've a Mk1 FRS seat going spare!) but am gonna purchase a "wheel stand pro" instead as for one its easier and also its designed for use sitting on ya sofa, which is where I'll be using mine!   Grin

ive got a g25 and influenced steves decision on getting one as they are excellant. the clutch is awesome. feedback through both wheel and pedals is as realistic as you can get. the g27 is just a updated g25 not sure if its worth the extra, when you can get brand new g25`s for £100ish and some even less then that.but well worth the investment. with gt5 round the corner the excitment is growing.  Afro occasion14

Fair point Daz, I very nearly bought a G25 around Christmas but all of a sudden they dissappered at sensible money and shot upto £300+ (Play sell them for £590 at the mo  Shocked ).  I can't find one cheap anywhere (they're rumoured to be discontinued??) so after a bit of research thought it was worth going for the G27, which is £300 anyway.  Another plus would be the improved gear selector as from what I've read that was a weak point on the G25, I know you lose the sequential shift option on the G27 (couldn't ever see my using that anyway) but apparently the quality/feel it is improved.

I'm soo tempted to get it now for GT5P and Colin McRae Dirt but have other stuff to get done/spend money on first!   Grin

cheers Smiley

I did a lot of reading on this, and the G27 is really not worth the £200 difference - but as you say, the G25 must be getting discontinued now with the 27's arrival. If you can find one for good money, i'd get it asap. I just scoured google and grabbed what i could, but they were getting thin on the ground. I think my missus payed £130 ish in the end. Try some of these:

http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&source=hp&q=g25&oq=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=988741492834214594&ei=FsBmS4CSMo640wSQ5szpBw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CA8Q8wIwAA#ps-sellers

a Mk1 FRS Seat would be QUALITY in that set up. I've seen the Wheelstand pro, it's a neat bit of kit for certain - and packs away totally flat - but i built that whole thing for less then a wheelstand costs! All wheel stand/seat products seem to be stupidly expensive....

oh - in answer to your question Nath - it's like driving a real car. Seriously, it's really natural to use. I'd never go back to my normal FF Wheel

These set up's do look uber cool, but i just don't play my PS3 enough to justify that kind of money..... £300!!!  Shocked .... so will stick with the standard controller as i pop, bang and chatter my way round Donington in my Escort Cossie in NFS: Shift Grin

That said, i still want a go on yours steve!!  occasion14 Grin Funky Banana LOL!!

ROTFL - I sometimes wonder how i've kept mine!!

Good man, that'll be awesome when that arrives! I think they must have just discontinued the G25, hence why it was so cheap. Ah well, you're still getting the muts nuts of wheels!

Recently, a sony exec slipped the fact that they expect GT5 to be "Out before christmas". HOW RUBBISH.

I've dismantled my seat and put it in the cupboard. I think it's gonna be there a while.....

Well it arrived yesterday but I only got time for a quick go on GT5P, fook me its pretty tricky!!!  Although I did chuck myself in at the deep end as all game/wheel setting are on full simulation with ALL driver aids off, and it was using a tuned F430!  Afro  Looking forward to a session on it tonight!  occasion14  I'm pretty handy on all GT games but with the wheel I was getting lapped on the second lap!  Embarrassed Embarrassed

Definatly turn all that stuff off Nath! Makes its much more fun!

I've got Feedback strength to 8, Power steering to Off, Traction control to 2, and steering set to "simulation". Harder the better i suppose, makes all that hardware worth it.

Have you tried the Ford GT? It's a right handful keeping it round corners whith the traction control off - great fun!!
