Right,

I need some help! Got to do some crappy assignment for Transport Technology at uni, and it needs to be on a current production car. Thought I might as well do something vaguely interesting, so I picked the new Focus RS.

Looking for some general information on them, as I know there's a few owners on here. I've got a sales brochure, but that's about it so far and it's hardly filled with useful information!

Just looking for some detail really, so if anyone can help with the following, it would be appreciated  Grin

Engine, what's been changed, the management used, the turbo used, just how different it is from the regular 2.5T unit, as much as possible.

Suspension, anything on RevoKnuckle is useful as I don't have to much, roll bar thicknesses, that kind of thing is all good, whether suspensions arms etc are different, spring rates, anything. It says the rear tie blades have been modified in the brochures, any idea what's been done?

Steering, how many turns in it? Is it variable rate PAS I assume?

Gearbox, is it the MMT in this as well? How is it different to the ST? Ratios? Any strengthening? Is it just a standard Quaife ATB, or has it been tweaked?

Brakes, I've got disk size for the front, but that's about it. Does it have four pots or anything do we know? How about the rear end? Solid or vented disks there, any idea on the size? Caliper design there too, handbrake operation etc is useful too.

Tyres too, I've got the profile, but what brand and type are they on from the factory?

There could be more, but that's what I can think of off the top of my head. Looking at Nath here, or any of the other RS owners we have here!

Your help is appreciated  Grin

To be honest mate, you're best just scanning the net, I'm not really the sort to get all caught up in the technical jargon unless I'm ripping things apart and modifying them!  I just enjoy driving the thing!!  There were a number of videos hosted by Jost Capito upto its launch which would be worth finding, on youtube I would think, he explains alot.  Just make sure you do your homework, I wouldn't want people going along with the masses in thinking its simply a slightly fettled ST!!  Wink

Indeed not!

I've got a bit of info, so I'm getting there now, I don't need to get too technical for this one, which is probably a good thing given how Ford don't want to share too much on their current models.

Actually, Nath, PM coming your way  Grin
