How about this?!?!?!?

Went to a friend's open day (the same guy who owned the Saph rally car I posted), and as he had Performance Ford magazine in attendance for a company profile feature, he got a few customer's cars in to show off the work they do, and look what he got!

The infamous Max Power Project 2000!

It's changed a bit over the years, the audio is all gone, and the custom bumpers aren't on it anymore sadly, though the owner still has them. It's showing some rust on those lovely steel arches sadly, and is a bit faded, but the current owner has spent a fortune on it, had all new fuel system and loads of other bits, and that lurvely Mountune engine still resides under the bonnet too.

Got a very brief run around the block in it, and sounds just incredible, and does go well. Just needs a bit of a freshen up really. It's one of te first modified Fords I remember really, and I think it's just awesome in every way! With a few changes, it would make a great track car, and you certainly can't miss it!

For sale too, £7500 I think, bargain  Grin

I'd ask for a grand off to get it re-sprayed. lol

That I4 looks like it's capable - but round the back, did they just forget to finish smoothing the rear wings into the rear panel? Tongue  Other than that, it's probably the only reasonably well track prepped RS2000 I've seen....

Rear arches are blistered like that because that's how they were on the Maxi F2 Escorts. I think they might have been made a bit wider on this, but they stick out, even on the real Maxi. The fronts are distinctly Cosworth flavoured though!

It's certainly got some nice bits on it. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I could, but my numbers haven't come up yet! Get it restored and resprayed (in the same colour!), some proper suspension, APs up front, and some some more rally slag wheels, and it would be a monster  Grin

You're all mad Tongue

I think it's worth every penny myself! Total one off, nothing else like it. I will admit, it isn't the best looking Escort ever created, but it made a statement at the time, which I suppose was the point, and it still makes a hell of a statement to this day. Rare as well really, I don't think any of their other big projects still exist.

It does need a respray but, in my opinion, it would be absolutely criminal to change the colour of it now. It's known for being this colour, the colour makes the car what it is, and I think painting it like that was a master stroke, as everyone remembers it! And it's a GENUINE Porsche colour  Shocked

And Steve, I'm not sure of the engine's exact spec (Mountune are cagey about Maxi engines at the best of times). We're unsure if it's the full-bore spec of the fastest tarmac spec cars, but it has the Mountune build number, and the magnesium inlet, slide throttle bodies and things. At the time, they claimed 250-odd bhp from it, which means titanium valves and some rather fruity internals. Essentially, it's the engine from one of these....

The styling isn't to everyone's taste, but it's a nice bit of history, and has had serious money put into it. I know someone who just bought a similar engine, and he paid £7k for it, needing a rebuild. To give you an idea of the performance, despite the lack of turbo and 'only' being FWD, the Escort Maxi managed comparable stage times to the Escort WRC at times...

You would get a nice Saph Cossie for the money, but this is far more exclusive, and on track, could really really hustle...

It's definitely a one-off.  Are Mountune a little cagey because it might be slightly 'outside' of the Group's specs? Wink

I reckon that is the sort of spec our track car should end up with. Wink  Any idea what it's original colour was?

It started life in Radiant Red I believe.

Has air con, heated screen and passenger air bag, so was fully specced up from the factory.

You might be able to find an engine, but I think the budget might be stretched slightly! An I4 might be a good way to go though. It fits in a MK4...
