Thought it'd be a good idea to bring them all together.
This is one thread from the Sierra Owners Club Forum who I didn't manage to find:

FSOC were over between the two bridges I think, I did see a few of their cars coming in and out. We weren't too far from them. They stick a lot of the clubs over there so the RSOC and STOCs are all in the middle area. That's all well and good, we all like Cossies and the like, but I think it's sad that a lot of really nice cars get over looked. Some of the nicest cars of the show were in that area and just go unnoticed!
Anyway, pictures from a few forums I've visted. Apologies if they don't all work!

We do have some picture crazy people among us there
I would have taken a lot more, but I didn't do much wondering.
I'm sure I'll make up for it at National Day though

We'd have taken some cracking shots if I'd have loaded the camera, but would've missed half the show as we didn't get over the other side of the bridge until we left!

This is true, i didn't even see the FEOC or FSTOC club stands as we only had a brief look over the bridge near the end........... did anyone else think it was a bit strange tho that the area usually reserved for the RSOC local groups (where we were) was half full of ST's???

It did bug me to be honest.
An area full of sanitary towels wasn't amusing.

Welcome to the new world I'm afraid....
Most RS's cars getting on a bit, STs are much newer and more reliable, dead easy to modify, and haven't been subject to years of abuse, making them very popular. I think it's going to get more and more common to be honest. Their stands are normally massive, they have a huge following now. I'm not a massive fan of either the Focus or Fiesta ST, but they certainly have plenty of people getting into them!

Glad you left Mondeo out!
............. lol, on a serious note tho, i think Jon's right sadly. The ST's are growing more and more in numbers (as they're still in production and selling of course) and i can only see it continuining more and more in future shows as they will need more and more space to accomidate them.......... don't get me wrong, i like the ST's, but its the RS models that have the pedigree and legendary status afterall..... don't want them getting stuck in the corner do we

Ford dropping the ball AGAIN. I mean, christ its not like they're having trouble selling the Focus RS. Make some bloody RS's again instead of these half baked ST!! Its like making XR's of everything back in the day without the RS to hold the top of the range....
grrrr... recession..... grrrrrr petrol prices...... insurance premiums .....grumble grumble

You forget - the XR came first. I'll give you a tenner if you can find out what XR actually means.
The XR was a meatier model of the original (as is the Focus, Fiesta and Mondeo STs), with the RS being the race/rally version of the standard model, some of which were homologation specials - the RS500, Sierra Cosworth, RS200 and S1 RS Turbo to name a few.

Yeah, these are the same people that thought it was a good idea to stick the coil for the performance model between the washer and coolant tanks - fantastic idea if they start to leak.

experimental research is the correct answer.they use the x because er3i wouldn`t sound as impressive. and the xr series didnt start until the xr3 which was in competition with the mk1 gti golf. iirc

Exactly, the XR3, and later XR3i, was Ford's rival to the massively popular Golf GTI that came in at the end of the 70's and the new "hot hatch" market that was basically created with it............ did the XR3 come out in 1981 tho?? Can't remember off the top of my head!!
