For a start he joins the track at the half way point and then wonders where he is, you can tell right from the start its going to end in tears. Enjoy

First mistake: BMW.
2nd mistake: Nailing it and thinking the BMW will stay in a straight line on a wet corner.

I dont think he was trying to skip the que, i just think he didnt know where he was. You drive through Adenau Village on the way to the real entrance i just think he saw the signs and presumed that was the start. This entrance / exit is used by the recovery vehicles as the depot is just opposite.
