I found this in a rant on the RSOC forum - and it sums me up to a 'T' Cheesy  Big round of applause to the author, 'Robbo'.

Quote
I love my cossie and I hope I never have to sell it. I'll continue to polish it to within an inch of it's life, and then go out and cover the front end in bugs and flies at 150mph just because we ran out of milk. I'll still use ?20 worth of petrol to get to the petrol station because I went the back way just to be pinned in my seat and hear the induction noise and turbo chatter bouncing off the blurred scenery.

Just a shame bout the shit that was spouted in the rest of his post!

http://bbs.rsownersclub.co.uk/showthread.php?t=112998

He's obviously disappointed with what he see's as the demise of the RS brand, however this isn't the 80's or 90's and there is no current RS model available to buy new. This doesn't mean that Ford or the public are not interested in RS cars.

I personally disagree with his post.

the rs brand s being kicked to the curb by ford. im totally dissappointed by them especially after they let cosworth go. 2 of the greatest names when put together came up with some of the greatest cars we will ever see. RS COSWORTH give me another two names which means so much to so many and have affected so many things in this world.

Well i have not read any articles yet so am not sure but there is talk of a new FRS (all be it FWD again Sad ) . But as they did before with the Fiesta RS are they going to label it as an RS prototype to grab our attention and then change it to an ST at the last minute. We talked about this very subject at the rsoc agm, and it seems that the RS brand is not as popular in Europe as it is here, and unfortunatly that is where most of the sales are! Dont forget we are only a pokey little island. The other thing that was TALKED about was a petition to Ford to make/perswade them to build a new RS that actually deserved the badge, but it seemed that it was only talk, as nothing has materialised.

The only glimmer of hope that we have is that the Rally team is still Team RS  and not Team ST, so with a bit of luck, if the rally season goes well again they may build us one to celebrate.

I for one know that if they did Build a new 4wd Turbocharged Focus, and that if i had my Escos i would definatly consider a p/x!!!!  As long as it was not a complete Lemon that is  Smiley

In reply to Daz about them names.....   How about  HP  SAUCE

From reading all of Robbo's post i dont feel he is a true RS fanatic and tbh i hope he gets nicked doing one of his so called 150mph runs and gets banned. That way someone who has passion for the brand will have chance to own one!

What you have to remember is that the RS brand didn't start with Cosworth or die with it.

Ford are in money troubles, if they are going to build an RS is has to be the best in its field for anyone to want to buy it. To compete in the 4x4 class it would need to be atleast as good as the Scoobies and Evo's. This costs alot of money to develope and then you still dont sell alot of cars in the grand scale of things. Ford just cant afford to do this at the minute. FRS prime example it was best in its class and still all the new hot hatchs are getting compared to it 4 years down the line.

I would hate the RS brand to go down the line of what the Type R brand has gone with Honda, I for one admire Ford for keeping the RS badge for truley special cars, instead of just sticking them on slightly sporty models  to make cash like Honda have. One car that definately should have had the RS badge is the Racing Puma.

I dont see the RS brand itself dieing, its the Cosworth thats dieing as there's very little chance of another being made ever. Its up2 owners of all RS's not just Cosworths to look after there cars as they are a rare thing.

They need to be cleaned, Polished, Serviced without cutting corners and most of all driven. It annoys me when i see an RS in a shit state, if you are going to treat it like crap why not just buy a base model instead of an icon!

Spot on there Nash.

You're right, there is more to the RS badge than the Cossie - that's often missed by some people.  And, as you say, just sticking a badge on doesn't make something special - it has to be designed to be special, which is something all RSs to date have in common.

The 'future of the RS' debate could go on forever, or at least until Ford make another one!  It seems to me that the people who complain that 'Ford are neglecting the RS brand' have forgotten that whether Ford drop RS or not, RSs will still exist - and it's up to the owners of the remaining RSs to make sure they continue to exist.

Suffice to say, I appreciate all RSs - Capris, Escorts, Sierras, Focuses, the RS200, and even the RS1700T, a beast in its own right.  If Ford drop another RS our way, that'd be great!  If they don't, then it'll make all RSs even more special, but this is not what I was trying to say - what I was trying to convey was that that single paragraph sums up how I feel when I drive my Cosworth...my RS Cosworth, though maybe not at 150, that's a bit too far!  Smiley

And, did any of you know that the Sierra Cosworth is referred to as the Sierra RS Turbo in some Ford documentation? Wink

I agree with the Racing Puma, It seems as though someone slipped up there. As it is the only 'Racing' car ford have ever made and it did compete in some rallies, so why not an RS.

If Ford are in trouble, why the hell are they selling Aston Martin, the one part of the company that is making money?Huh?Huh??  And dont forget it is Ford America that are putting the company in trouble, the Europe contingent are still doing quite well. Damn American's!!!  Smiley
