Sapphire's weren't terribly effective on track as they arrived on the scene just as the RS500 was being politely asked to leave the stage, and as turbos were being banned from Group A touring cars.

On the rally scene they were doing OK, ish, but as Ford had messed around so much umming and aaahing with the XR4x4 and 3 door Cossie in rallying, the 4x4 Sapphire didn't really have enough resources thrown at it when it made its appearance.  Unlike the Escort which got more of the works treatment than it's older brother.

Team bus around the Ring!

Gearing a bit too tall (count the gear changes Wink).

It goes faster with a bit more road than the 1.5 miles at Brunters Wink.

The R1 LOST (come to that, so did the 600bhp Skyline Wink)!

PROPER FLAMES! Wink
